I've been on the lower end of the human mortality curve for some time now.
That said, this year was a good one. Wins:
- Finishing TFA's summer Institute, their hellish teacher bootcamp that tries to cram an entire education curriculum and student teaching experience into five weeks.
- Making big gains with my awesome 8th graders at Aptos Middle School. They grew from middle schoolers at or below grade level to high schoolers ready to take on geometry, and I worked toward my credential.
- Dancing, teaching, and DJing at Shades of Blues, Friday Night Blues, Camp Blues, Atomic Blues Fusion, and the Rent Party, plus traveling to the Boston Fusion Exchange, Urban Blues Recess, San Diego Lindy Exchange, and Portland Blues Experience (this weekend!).
- Moving out of the 'rents place into my own apartment and pretending to be a grownup.
Interning at SAY for the summer.
I'm not asking for any presents this year, but if you're feeling charitible, why not donate to my DonorsChoose project? All the proceeds will directly go to giving awesome public school kids awesome chances to achieve in math.
