Five Years of Shack Attack

I started this blog five years ago, after Six Apart (the guys who makemade this platform) gave me a free account during my internship with them.

Since then, I:

  • Spent a year in Japan, learning the language, experience the odd, wonderful culture, and having a great time.
  • Graduated college and moved on to join the Teach for America corps, the hardest, most rewarding experience of my life. Teaching 8th grade Algebra at Aptos Middle School in San Francisco has pushed, inspired, and humbled me as I discover what the students, faculty, and community of an urban public school are capable of.
  • Became the marketing guy for Fusion Exchange, a pioneering national social dance event where we get swing, tango, blues and other dancers to come together to learn from and celebrate each other.
  • Started teaching blues dancing regularly around the Bay Area, as well as occasional out-of-state gigs.

As time has gone by, this blog has evolved from a travel journal into a place for me to just dump cool links, thoughts, and life updates for myself, for friends and family, and for the few hundred people I've connected to through it online and off. If the next five years are anything like the last five, I'm in for an interesting ride, and look forward to sharing it with you.
